Boffo

The Exorcism of Emily Rose, following my favorable review (see below), opened at some $30 million for the weekend.

This is good news on a number of levels. One, that respectful and serious movies with Christian themes or conflicts do well and appeal to a great many people.

Two, that The Passion of the Christ was not a one off, a singularity, a show biz freak.

Three, there are some Christian filmmakers who know how to make great Hollywood movies.

Four, investors will be encouraged by such successes.

Five, the prevailing culture of spiritual sterility in Hollywood leads to box office failure.

Add your own.
