California Voter ID ballot initiative fails

As I look at the piles and boxes of petitions we collected, it is hard to believe that today, our filing deadline, we only have just under approximately 100,000 signatures.

As I'm writing this, we are still working on a final count, but it is clear we are a long way from our 373,000 signature goal.

What a shame.

Money is the mother's milk of politics. That and publicity. This effort had little of both. A grass roots attempt without a big band wagon. Well, one thing you can almost always say in politics -- there's always tomorrow.
