Whither utopia?

I once tried to make a case of progression in human morals. I had hoped to show that humanity did improve over millenia. My two strongest points rested on the fact that we no longer performed human sacrifice religious reituals and we ended slavery.

Well, abortion killed the idea that we don't practice human sacrifice, and if that doesn't seem persuasive, try this. The ritual murder of small children in churches in London.

Of course, the Sudan destroyed any notion that traffic in slavery was finished for humanity (and add to that the kidnapping of women and forced prostitution from eastern Europe and around the globe).

So listen up you so called "progressives" who think you can improve humanity and that people are basically good, you will always lose the argument.
