Update on bloggers about my case and the law

Diggers Realm continues to add more bloggers
who have commented on the Pearcy v. me issue with a number of ones highly critical of me. Particularly this sorry excuse for a lawyer.

I am somewhat astonished since most or all of the criticism has come from the Center Right or Right (I would guess). The main problem for many is that of having the Pearcy's livelihood attacked.

I think they perceive what could happen to them should a bunch of lefties start calling their employers about what they say on the Web; or publish their home addresses and phone numbers.

We have come to believe as a people we should be able to say (and pretty much do) anything we want without having to fear any retaliation other than someone telling us to go do obscene things to ourselves. Hence the amount of open or anonymous slander, defamation, and libel on the Web.

Because so many bloggers are seriously intemperate, and enjoy casual slander of others or reliance on vulgarity, maybe their employers might not respect them if they discovered just how juvenile and vain they are. Maybe their clients or customers might not want to do business with people they know are bilious or puerile.

The Dixie Chicks cried because radio stations wouldn't play their songs and some held rallies to burn their cds. I guess they should have sued somebody, and won since their livelihood was threatened according to many critics of my free speech defense. And Ludicrus could easily have won against Bill O'Reilly for causing him economic damage.

"Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm -- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves." T.S Eliot
