Next Piece on the Board

The Belmont Club has some interesting speculation on what may be in the works regarding Syria, a country needing a severe punishing for its funding and support of terrorists in Iraq (among other things).

I wonder if we don't have enough men in uniform to do all we need to do, or else the broad outline of foes we have to bring to heel is simply too grandiose for any politician to hope to accomplish when we have such enemies within to undermine such bold courses of action.

It almost calls for a President to act as a Caesar would and "Let the dice fly high!"

Clearly, we can destroy the armies and governments of Iran and Syria, but managing the ensuing chaos is unpredictable with possibly a greater chance of a quicker success in Iran than in Syria.

At some point we have got to leverage China against North Korea. A simple threat of high tariffs ought to do it, but do we have the nerve?

Well, we will have to wait and see.
