The Euros don't know a thing

This long essay is an insightful look at just how idiotic Europeans have become at looking at America. The author looks at a number of recent books that look at the divide between the continents from a fresh perspective as an American writer living in Europe for six years.

He started out thinking the Euro cliches about Americans as shallow, consumerist, uneducated, insulated, childish, and so forth were accurate until he began comparing from experience and not theory; finding out that it is the Euros who know little about America and Americans; that they tend to be rather pathetic and submissive to power, lacking initiative, creativity, dynamism, and are vain.

The article is long, but rewarding. A real find. It will make you glad you are American.
