I've felt that way for many years now. For all the Beauty one can find in life, there is not enough Truth, and pure Goodness to make it immensely worthwhile past one's prime or child rearing project.

It's not exactly Prufrockian, but the conscious effort to be useful in a satisfying manner gets wearisome.
