What it is

TCS has a column on the effects of a bomb blast on the human body. The writer's purpose was to help the reader see or understand what happens at ground zero.

I don't know if such understanding is helpful or not, for the effect is the same if it's a car bomb or one dropped from a plane. It is devastation.

Violence is a terrible thing, but we distinguish between intentions in its use. That which is used to defend life has to be acceptable. Too often, though, the debate now rages against self-defense; that we're no better than terrorists, but the Bible has it well -- a time for war, a time for peace.

There is no avoiding that severe fact of human life.
